Thu 20 May 2021:
The nauseating scenes are being witnessed at the banks of Ganga in Prayagraj (Allahabad) where dogs are digging out the dead bodies from the makeshift graves and devouring them
“This is sickening to see dogs digging the make shift graved and pulling out the dead bodies and later feasting on them. Is this the Ram Rajya the BJP promised us”?, Rajendra Gautam, a resident of Prayagraj told this reporter.
The local people vouch that after bodies were found buried in shallow sand graves on the banks of the Ganga river, pack of dogs have descended on the banks and almost every day they witness these canines eating the highly decomposed and bloated corpse.
After the pandemic swept villages people who were not able to give a descent cremation to the bodies buries them in the sand at the bank of river Ganga in Prayagraj. Such reports have also come from Unnao and Kanpur.

Govt failed to protect their life, at least protect their dignity? This is what BJP & Godi Media doesn’t want you to see and hence trying to deviate via smokescreens pic.twitter.com/Mc8VYb3sWE

The graves, many of them covered with clothes or marked by bamboo sticks, were visible at Shringverpur Ghat, Arail, Jhunsi, and near Covid and non-Covid cremation ghats at Phaphamau in Prayagraj. Some were also seen close to the Sangam area while a few others were visible from the Phaphamau Bridge, Mewa Lal, a local resident said.
Over the past week, close to 1,000 bodies were either fished out of the Ganga or found in shallow graves on the river banks in Uttar Pradesh. Recent rains and storms swept away top cover or the red or orange cloth with which the make-shift graves were covered thus exposing the dead bodies.

It is believed that the bodies could be of Covid patients. Predatory birds and dogs could be seen feasting on the remains. Local residents claim such scenes have never been witnessed before and it only started with the onset of second Covid wave. “We have never seen such a sight near the river Ganga before. There are thousands of bodies here. The government should follow ‘Swachh Bharat’ and maintain cleanliness in the area,” Sanjay Srivastav, a local resident said.
Srivastava said though he is not an expert but these stray dogs can also be carriers of covid infection. Two lions in Etawah Lion Safari have been tested Covid positive and this proves that animals can carry covid infection.
At Prayagraj where too, like at Kanpur, Unnao, Varanasi and Kannauj the bodies pile up on the river banks, the local pandit warns, when the rains come there will be a new health crisis. But we cant even get the government to acknowledge the abandoned bodies across UP. My report pic.twitter.com/vZlqcO0gnI

“This is almost confirmed that these dead bodies were of covid patients, the dogs are eating the internal organs of these persons where covid could still be active,” he said and added that district administration should take some steps to stop this.
