IRANIAN LAWMAKER CONFIRMS TEHRAN MILITARY BASE EXPLOSION

In a statement to local media, Esmail Kosari, a legislator and former Revolutionary Guards Corps commander in Iran, confirmed the July 1 explosion at the Malik Ashtar military facility in Tehran.

The attack was carried out by the members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), considered a terror group in the country, Kosari told the Iranian website Khabar Online, adding: “Outsider agents do not carry out such operations since our security forces have them under surveillance. Instead, they use their internal agents.”

He further stated that the attack was carried out with the help of two homemade bombs.

Social media users shared video footage of numerous blasts at the Revolutionary Guards Army’s Malik Ashtar camp in Tehran.

While the MKO claimed responsibility for the bombing, Iranian officials remained silent.
