MOLESTED AND SLAPPED BY A CLASSMATE, MUSLIM STUDENT JUMPS OFF COLLEGE BUILDING

A second-year dental science student of a private medical college here died on Friday, two days after she allegedly jumped off the fourth floor of the building and was hospitalised with critical injuries, police said.

The 22-year-old student – Vania Asad Sheikh – was reportedly harassed mentally and physically by her classmate Siddharth Panwar. When she resisted his advances, he slapped her in full public view.

Embarrassed and frightened, Vania jumped from the fourth floor of the college. She was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries on Friday. The incident happened on the evening of October 19.

She climbed the library and jumped from the fourth floor on Wednesday. Her jumping video had gone viral. On behalf of the college administration, the girl was admitted to the hospital.

The girl’s father claims that Siddhant Panwar, a BDS student at the college, openly slapped his daughter. The young lady raised her hand to help. The girl’s nails are also visible on Siddhant’s face. Siddhant Panwar beat up the girl again after this. The girl, enraged by this, jumped from the fourth floor.

For a month, the BDS student and her classmate Siddhant Pawar fought over some issue. There was frequently an argument as well. Siddhant allegedly slapped the Vania, the matter was settled at the time. On October 19, however, Siddhant slapped the girl in front of everyone again.

Siddhant Panwar, a resident of A-22 Shivalik Nagar, Haridwar, had been troubling the student for a week. Mahesh Panwar, his father, is a dentist in Haridwar.

Police registered a case against Siddhant under various sections and arrested him. Thereafter he was produced in the court. From there he was sent to jail. On the other hand, Siddhant Panwar’s father Dr. Mahesh Panwar has also reached Meerut from Haridwar. Dr. Panwar says that the student and Siddhant were classmates. What happened suddenly that she jumped from the fourth floor.
