Wed 13 July 2022:

The Kremlin expressed its hope on Wednesday that President Joe Biden’s trip to Saudi Arabia wouldn’t be used to try to promote anti-Russian relations, at the same time that the US is trying to persuade Riyadh to increase oil output in the face of rising prices.

Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin, added that Russia, the world’s largest supplier of natural gas and the second-largest exporter of oil after Saudi Arabia, particularly appreciated its collaboration with Saudi Arabia within the framework of the OPEC+ group of the world’s major oil producers.

“We are within the framework of the OPEC + agreements, and we highly appreciate the work that we manage to do with our partners, including with leading partners such as Saudi Arabia,” he told a daily conference call with reporters. “We highly appreciate our relations and our interaction with Riyadh and we certainly hope that the building of relations and the development of relations between Riyadh and other world capitals will in no way be directed against us.”

On Friday, President Vladimir Putin issued a warning to the West warning that the continuation of sanctions against Russia due to the conflict in Ukraine risk of causing catastrophic increases in energy prices for consumers all over the world.
