TRUMP CALLS USERS OF TERM ‘ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE’ THE ‘ENEMY’

Fri 09 October 2026:

US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the White House considers anyone who uses the term “artificial intelligence” instead of “super intelligence” an “enemy,” reinforcing his administration’s push to rebrand the technology.

“The White House considers anyone that uses the term, ‘Artificial Intelligence,’ as opposed to the highly accepted new and more accurate term, ‘Super Intelligence,’ THE ENEMY! President DONALD J. TRUMP,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Separately, Trump established a Super Intelligence Force to coordinate the federal government’s approach to the technology.

The group is led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton and includes Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor.

Trump thinks “artificial” makes the technology sound fake.

On September 22, 2026, at the UN General Assembly, he said the United States would stop calling it artificial intelligence and use “super intelligence” instead. His line was that “the use of the word artificial makes intelligence fake… it is not fake. It’s actually amazing,” and that “super” is “much more accurate” and “sounds much better.” He also said he wanted U.S. documents—and ideally the world’s—to switch to the new term, and framed the race with China as one the U.S. must win without “globalist” controls that would slow it down.

A White House executive order around September 29 directed executive-branch agencies to use “Super Intelligence” (SI) instead of “AI” in official correspondence, public communications, and policy documents. The fact sheet says the change is meant to reflect a “continuously advancing technological frontier” and “limitless promise,” and that “super intelligence” better captures systems that amplify human creativity rather than merely imitating it. Reporting also noted he had polled Truth Social followers on names such as “super intelligence” versus “superior intelligence” before settling on SI.

In short, this is a rebranding order inside the executive branch, not a technical claim that today’s systems are already superintelligent in the research sense (intelligence beyond humans across domains). The industry and technical literature still mostly use “AI”; “superintelligence” usually refers to a possible future stage, not current models.
