Thu 17 February 2022:

According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, Twitter’s website and app were offline for some users on Thursday.

Downdetector, which tracks outages by compiling status updates from a variety of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform, received over 4,500 outage complaints within minutes of problems occurring.

Users reported being unable to load any new tweets or view people’s profiles. Links also appeared to stop working.

Some also received messages stating “Something went wrong” and “Try reloading”.

The issues appear to be affecting the website rather than the app, according to user reports.

Downdetector confirms 86% of the reports are for the website.

“Tweet replies won’t load #TwitterDown,” one said.

Another added: “Twitter down on desktop websites.”

The technical issues come under a week after another Twitter outage.

This isn’t the first time the social media giant has experienced an outage. Twitter announced last Friday that they had fixed a technical issue that was preventing timelines from loading and tweets from being posted.

Things should be “back to normal now,” Twitter Inc stated from its official support handle, apologizing for the disruption.

Twitter’s average monetizable daily active users (mDAU) worldwide hit 217 million in the fourth quarter of 2021, up 6 million sequentially — and up 13% year over year — but somewhat below Wall Street projections.

Post the news, shares of Twitter Inc traded 0.21 per cent down at $36.16 on NYSE.
