Tue 12 April 2022:

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Tuesday that Russia’s military operations will continue until they are successful, Anadolu Agency reported.

“We will not stop. There is no doubt that all our goals in Ukraine will be achieved during Russia’s special military operation. The goals are absolutely clear, they are noble,” said Putin ahead of a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko.

“Our main goal is to help people in Donbas, the people of Donbas, which we recognized, had to do it because the Kiev authorities, pushed by the West, refused to implement the Minsk agreements aimed at a peaceful solution to the problems of Donbas,” he added.

Putin also said a collision between Russia and Ukraine was inevitable because the West was turning Ukraine into an anti-Russia base.

“Ukraine was turning into an anti-Russian foothold, the sprouts of nationalism and neo-Nazism were carefully grown there, the sprouts that had been there for a long time.

“The neo-Nazism was specially grown, and Russia’s clash with these forces was inevitable, they only were choosing the time to attack,” he said.

Putin hailed the Russian army’s conduct, stating that the soldiers are fighting “courageously and competently.”

The UN’s children agency UNICEF said nearly two-thirds of all Ukrainian children have fled their homes since the beginning of Russia’s attack in late February.

“They have been forced to leave everything behind — their homes, their schools and, often, their family members,” he told the UN Security Council. “I have heard stories of the desperate steps parents are taking to get their children to safety, and children saddened that they are unable to get back to school.”

According to UN estimates, at least 1,842 people have been killed and 2,493 injured in Ukraine since Russia began war on February 24, with the exact tally expected to be far higher.

According to the UN refugee agency, over 4.5 million Ukrainians have fled to neighboring countries, with millions more internally displaced.
