Tue 11 October 2022:

The messaging service WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, has announced a number of new features, and is now enabling the addition of up to 1,024 users to groups for some beta testers.

This feature is accessible on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS, but it is only available to an unspecified number of beta testers, claims WABetaInfo.

According to the report, users can try to create a group or add new members to an existing one to see if the feature is available on their WhatsApp account.

The ability to add 1,024 people sounds crazy, however, it may help WhatsApp compete with other instant messaging apps like Telegram. Telegram now, has a limit of 200,000 people in a group

According to the report, WhatsApp is also developing new tools, such as a list of pending participants and an approval system, to give admins more control over these larger groups in the future.

In May, along with new features, the company rolled out the ability to add up to 512 people to a group from 256 people.

In the meantime, the platform recently launched WhatsApp Premium, a new feature for business accounts, as a beta test in some countries.

Businesses can benefit from some cutting-edge features through WhatsApp Premium, including a better way to reach customers and some improvements when linking new devices.
