Mon 04 July 2022:

According to reports, the Apple Watch Series 8 will include a body temperature sensor that will alert the user if he or she has a fever.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the forthcoming Apple Watch will be able to detect a rise in body temperature and advise you to use a thermometer.

“The feature is a go for both the standard Apple Watch Series 8 and a new rugged edition that’s aimed at extreme sports athletes,” he said.

This health feature won’t be available on the next, lower-end Apple Watch SE.

The body temperature sensor, according to renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, is expected to launch later this year.

Previous reports suggested the sensor could also be used for fertility tracking — shifts in body temperature could help someone determine when they’re more likely to get pregnant.

New features will also be included in watchOS 9, such as an improved Workout app, sleep stages, an innovative Afib History function, a brand-new Medications app, and more.

“This fall, watchOS 9 takes the Apple Watch experience to the next level with scientifically validated insights across fitness, sleep, and heart health, while providing users more creative ways to make their Apple Watch their own,” Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, said last month.

The company said that watchOS 9 brings sleep stages to the Sleep app and a new FDA-cleared AFib History feature that provides deeper insights into a user’s condition.

Users who have been diagnosed with Afib can activate the Afib History feature in watchOS 9 to have access to crucial data, including an estimate of how frequently their cardiac rhythm exhibits indicators of AFib, giving them deeper understanding of their condition.

Earlier this month, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved software created by the neurology startup Rune Labs that enables people with Parkinson’s disease to monitor their symptoms using Apple Watch.
