Inquiry Follows Undercover Report; Two Senior Aides Resign

British police have launched a criminal investigation into allegations that Reform UK breached electoral law in connection with foreign funding, according to media reports on Wednesday.

The Metropolitan Police Special Enquiry Team is incorporating the investigation into an existing inquiry into other donations to the party, the BBC reported.

The probe follows a Channel 4 News and Verbatim Investigations broadcast last week, which featured an undercover reporter recording two senior Reform aides apparently discussing a way around electoral law to secure foreign party donations.

Reform UK Denies Wrongdoing

A Reform UK spokesman said the party “denies any wrongdoing and will fully cooperate with the investigation,” in response to the probe.

“We won’t be commenting further while a live investigation is under way.”

The Metropolitan Police said the investigation began after it received “a number of reports relating to donations and polling involving a political party.”

Police added that “All allegations under investigation relate to potential offences under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000.”

The spokesperson said detectives were also seeking footage connected to the broadcast.

Senior Aides Step Down

The controversy has led to the resignations of two senior Reform UK figures: Dan Jukes, chief of staff to party leader Nigel Farage, and James Orr, head of policy.

Jukes has denied “any wrongdoing” and said he “stepped back from politics in order to clear” his name.

The investigation remains ongoing, with police seeking further evidence as they examine the allegations.
