Mon 23 August 2021:

According to a study conducted in the United States, during the pandemic, aggression among spouses climbed six to eight times across the country.

Physical aggression was confined to two acts per year before the pandemic began, but soared to 15 acts per year once the lockdown began, according to a study published in the journal “Psychology of Violence.”

The findings by Georgia State University said that stress related to the pandemic was associated with aggression on the partner.

The researchers recruited 510 people for the study in April 2020, just as the US went into lockdown, and asked them about their lives during and before the pandemic.

According to the study, people are under “enormous stress,” which leads to increasing hostility and violence. The study discovered that drinkers have a high rate of violence.

However, the researchers discovered that, while heavy drinkers may be responsible for increased aggression, people who did not drink were also affected by the stress element during extreme events like as the pandemic.

According to the researchers, strategies aimed at mitigating the pandemic’s negative consequences, such as relief packages and availability to childcare and health facilities, may aid in stress reduction.

According to the study, non-drinkers were the ones who were most affected by pandemic-related stress. However, it was discovered that the crisis had an impact not only on high-risk groups, but also on a substantial portion of the population, necessitating strategies to target individuals who had been harmed.

The researchers advocated for text message-based therapies because social distancing strategies are needed during the pandemic to help people to deal with problems without having to spend a lot of money.
