Sun 29 August 2021:

Coronavirus infections in England are 26 times more than they were last year, according to the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS).

In a previous study, the ONS stated that COVID-19 instances in England had increased by over 15% after the UK government relaxed virus regulations. In Wales and Northern Ireland, the number of instances is said to have increased.

After health officials vaccinated 71% of people, Boris Johnson’s government lifted restrictions. However, despite the vaccine, hospitalizations increased for the first time since March last month.

The Delta variant has had a significant impact on the United Kingdom. Since last year, the UK has been one of the worst-affected countries by the virus, with over 6.7 million infections and 132,600 deaths.

According to government data, England’s COVID-19 reproduction “R” increased from 0.9 to 1.2 last week, implying that for every 10 people infected, 9 to 12 others will be infected on average, despite the fact that the current daily growth rate was estimated at -1 to +3%.

Although England has reduced its foreigner quarantine laws, authorities this week added Thailand and Montenegro to the “red list,” requiring visitors returning from these countries to enter quarantine in a hotel.

Canada, Switzerland, and Denmark are among the countries on England’s “green list,” which allow citizens to visit without having to return to the country for quarantine.

The British economy grew by 0.8% in May, thanks to the lifting of lockdown restrictions as the country escaped from months of stay-at-home edict.

The unemployment rate in the United Kingdom fell in the three months leading up to the end of April as the country began to open up. In April, the UK reopened non-essential retail in an effort to bolster the economy, which was strained last year due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.
