Cristiano Ronaldo has said his goodbyes to his Juventus teammates after informing Massimiliano Allegri that he will not be returning to the Italian club. After missing out on Harry Kane, he has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City , according to Sky in Italy.

Sky in Italy are reporting City have been offered the chance to sign Ronaldo and are willing to offer him a two-year contract, with a salary of £12.8m-per-season (€15m). He is currently earning €31m per year after tax at the Allianz Stadium.

The club’s coach, Massimiliano Allegri, said: “Yesterday, Cristiano told me that he no longer has any intention to play for Juventus.”

“I’m absolutely not disappointed, because Cristiano took his own decision. He was here for three years, he gave his contribution, he put himself at Juventus’ disposal, and now he’s leaving and life goes on.”

Allegri added that Ronaldo would not be called up for Saturday’s Serie A match against Empoli.

Ronaldo, who is still regarded as one of the best players in the world despite his age, has been linked with a move to Manchester City, who were unable to get Tottenham forward Harry Kane during the summer transfer window.

However, given Ronaldo’s time at Manchester United, where he played from 2003 to 2009, the move would be controversial.

He won two league titles with Juventus, but the team did not win the coveted Champions League.

Ronaldo is supposedly valued at roughly £25 million by the Italian giants.
