DPA JOURNALISTS ATTACKED BY GERMAN POLICE DURING PROTEST

 German police attacked protestors in Dusseldorf with batons and beat two journalists on Saturday, according to the German News Agency, (DPA).

Police attacked a DPA photojournalist who was covering a protest against a state bill in North Rhine-Westphalia and hit the reporter with a baton several times.

The report also noted that police beat another journalist.

A criminal complaint was filed against the officer in question, according to the DPA.

DPA Editor-in-Chief Sven Gosmann described the police’s behavior as an “unacceptable attack on the freedom of the press” and demanded the incident be fully clarified.
