FORMER SUPREME COURT JUDGE SUSPECT IN PRESIDENT’S KILLING: HAITI POLICE

On Friday, Haitian police filed new charges against former Supreme Court judge in connection with the assassination of President Jovenel  Moise earlier this month, alleging that she met with Colombian mercenaries accused of killing him.

Moise’s assassination has thrown the Western hemisphere’s poorest country into even more disarray, sparking worldwide quest for mercenaries and murderers across the Americas.

Wendelle Coq-Thelot, a former Supreme Court judge who was removed with two other justices earlier in February when Moise claimed a coup was plotted against him.

 

Coq-Thelot’s whereabouts are unknown and she could not be reached for comment.

According to Inspector General Marie Michelle Verrier, spokesperson for the National Police of Haiti, Colombian mercenaries and Haitian-Americans arrested in the aftermath of Moise’s assassination indicated they had met Coq-Thelot.

“Several of them have indicated that they have been to Mrs. Coq’s home twice,” Verrier told reporters. “These people gave to (police) details of documents signed during the meetings at Mrs. Coq’s home.”

According to Verrier, police raided Coq main Thelot’s home as well as several rural residences. Coq Wandelle is also the subject of a wanted poster.
Earlier in the day, Colombia called on Haiti to guarantee the legal and medical rights of 18 Colombians detained on the Caribbean island for alleged participation in Moise’s assassination.
