Turkey Condemned
On Thursday, the Israeli army claimed on Twitter that it hit targets belonging to the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, an ammunition factory and a tunnel used for weapons shipments in Gaza.
Turkey’s Presidential Spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin on Friday condemned the latest Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip, Anadolu Agency reported.
“We strongly condemn Israel’s airstrike on Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan,” Kalin posted on Twitter.
Kalin reiterated, Turkey’s support for the Palestinian nation and called on Israel to “immediately” cease the attacks.
Omer Celik, the ruling Justice and Development Party spokesperson, also took to Twitter to condemn the Israeli attack on the besieged Gaza Strip.
“Israel once again attacked Gaza in the month of Ramadan,” he expressed, adding that the attack was unacceptable.
“Israel has shown once again that it does not care about any humanitarian values,” Celik wrote, adding that Turkey will never stop supporting the Palestinian people.
The densely populated Gaza Strip has been under an Egyptian-Israeli blockade since 2007 when Hamas took control of the strip.
Israel imposed a blockade of Gaza’s sea and land borders after Hamas seized control in 2007. The two sides have since fought three wars.
A fragile truce has endured in recent years despite occasional flare-ups, with Palestinians firing rockets at Israel and the latter responding with air attacks on the coastal enclave.
More than 2,160 Palestinians were killed, mostly civilians, and 11,000 injured in an Israeli onslaught against the Gaza Strip in 2014.
