Mon 24 October 2022:

Four people have been detained after cake was thrown over King Charles III’s wax statue at Madame Tussauds by Just Stop Oil protesters.

At the London attraction on Monday, activists approached the statue and unveiled T-shirts bearing the name of the environmental organization.

They then threw cake in the king’s lifelike statue’s direction.

Following the protest, the Metropolitan Police reported that four people had been detained for criminal damage.

In an effort to stop the issuance of new oil and gas licenses, Just Stop Oil has pledged to take action each day this month.

In addition, its activists have blocked roads in the capital, closed a crucial Thames crossing, and dumped human waste over a memorial to Sir Captain Tom Moore.

Others covered a Van Gogh masterpiece behind a glass cover with tomato soup.

Just Stop Oil posted a video on Monday morning showing two protesters walking up to the waxwork of the king, which stood next to statues of Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton.

One of the activists shouted it was “time for action” before both threw chocolate cake over the statue.

A Madame Tussauds worker could be heard shouting: “Guys, stop.”

Some of the cake appeared to also splatter over the waxwork of the Queen Consort.

The activists addressed the crowd after the protest, with one of them saying: “The demand is simple. Just Stop Oil is a piece of cake.”

Just Stop Oil has issued a warning that its demonstrations will continue until the UK government accedes to their demand to stop issuing any new oil and gas licenses.

Its activists were detained last week for obstructing traffic on London’s Abbey Road and at a crucial intersection close to Holborn station. Others painted Harrods orange and glued themselves to the pavement outside.
