NEW INSTAGRAM STORIES LAYOUT MAY HIDE EXCESSIVE POSTS

Thu 19 May 2022:

Instagram, which is owned by Meta, is said to be developing a new Stories layout that hides excessive posts.

According to 9To5Mac, a Brazilian Instagram user named Phil Ricelle noticed that the Instagram app now only shows three of other people’s Stories.

Currently, users can publish 100 Stories at once. Users who have got the update must hit a “Show All” button to see the remainder of the Stories. Otherwise, Instagram will go on to the next user’s Stories.

This brings about a significant change in how Instagram Stories works, the report said.

As some people are used to tapping the screen to see all Stories from an account at once, this will no longer be possible after the update. For creators, this means that any posts after the third Stories will likely have a lower number of views.

At the same time, limiting the number of Stories displayed in the app should allow users to see posts from more people more quickly if they are not interested in that content.

According to the source, just a small number of users have received the update with the new Stories layout, implying that Instagram is currently testing the changes before sending them out to all users.
