The National Institute for Communicable Diseases is refuting claims that the new COVID-19 variant in India has been detected in South Africa. This as COVID-19 infections in India continues to rise sharply. The institute says South Africa has not reported the B.1.617 variant. The NICD’s Professor Adrian Puren has the latest information.
