OLYMPICS: GREECE WITHDRAWS ITS ARTISTIC SWIMMING TEAM AFTER FOUR COVID CASES

Tue 03 August 2021:

The Greek Olympic Committee (HOC) has announced that Greece has withdrew from the Olympic artistic swimming contests after four of their swimmers tested positive for Covid-19.

One athlete tested positive yesterday, and three more tested positive on Tuesday, causing the team to be ruled out and the athletes to be placed in quarantine.

“The team from the very first day it entered the village has not come into contact with any other member of the Greek Olympic team for obvious reasons,” the HOC said.

Organizers of the Tokyo Olympics revealed 18 more Covid-19 instances Monday, raising the total to 294 since July 1 — however none of these cases appear to be serious. On Thursday, though, two international participants were brought to the hospital with Covid-19, though officials indicated they were not serious cases.

All athletes are under tight restrictions once they arrive in Japan as the country struggles with record numbers of infections and the Games are held without spectators.
