Sat 04 September 2021:

Residents of Paris took to the streets again on Saturday to protest the required COVID-19 passes.

The demonstrators had assembled earlier in the day near the Eiffel Tower in the Champ de Mars park at the request of Florian Philippot, the head of the right-wing Patriots party, who gave a brief address before the column began moving.

The march began about 12:30 GMT, with protesters playing French artists’ songs, waving national flags, and chanting “freedom, freedom.” Many people had the word written on their placards. Protesters are also asking for the resignation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

Meanwhile, two other protests against the COVID-19 passes were organized by the Yellow Vests movement.

Other French cities are also scheduled to have their protests.

In July, Macron announced a series of new restrictions to contain the spread of COVID-19, including a special health pass indicating that a person has either been vaccinated or has a negative test result for COVID-19.

The permit was already necessary at the end of last month in museums, theaters, movies, and other public events with more than 50 attendees. It became necessary in restaurants, pubs, shopping malls, airlines, and long-distance trains on August 9.

Protests against the policy rocked the country every other week, causing great anxiety in French society. A total of 160,000 people protested across France on Saturday.
