Sat 20  August 2022:

In addition to the blue tick or badge the business associates with the verified accounts, Twitter is working on a new tool that will label or tag the phone numbers of verified user profiles.

This new functionality was uncovered by app researcher Jane Manchun Wong and is meant to give the platform greater legitimacy and authenticity.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, is currently suing Twitter in court for the alleged undeclared existence of bots on its platform in response to Twitter’s withdrawal of the $44 billion takeover proposal.

“Twitter is working on verifieda phone number label on profile,” she posted on Saturday.

“I’m guessing it’s related to civic integrity, soa visible to everyone?” She added.

The new tool can also be useful for verified businesses with customer service.

The company will also provide an opt-out option for those who do not this tag on their mobile numbers.

The “blue tick” accounts already require to have a verified phone number or email address attached.

The new feature will link phone numbers to users’ accounts and display the status with a verified tag.

Wong also said that Twitter is working on showing ‘Tweet view count’.

“It’s unsure whether it will be visible to the author only or everyone,” she said.

Users will soon be informed by Twitter if a tweet that is embedded has been changed or has a new version.

Wong earlier learned that Twitter is developing a new function that might be included in its broad future Edit tool.
