Mon 16 August 2021:

Commenting on the Taliban’s conquest of the Afghan capital Kabul, member of Hamas’ Political Bureau Musa Abu Marzouq said that occupied nations should not be deceived by fake slogans handed to them by occupying powers.

Taking to Twitter, Abu Marzouq wrote: “The Taliban are victorious today after being accused of backwardness and terrorism,” noting that the movement “became more pragmatic.”

He added: “They [Taliban fighters] have stood up to the US and its agents, refusing to compromise.”

Abu Marzouq stressed that Taliban fighters “have not been fooled by slogans like democracy, elections, and fake promises,” stressing this should be “a lesson for all oppressed peoples.”

Yesterday the Taliban took control of the Presidential Palace in Kabul after President Ashraf Ghani fled to Tajikistan “to avoid bloodshed”.
