JUDICIARY CHIEF RAEISI WINS PRESIDENTIAL VOTE IN IRAN WITH A LANDSLIDE VICTORY

Ebrahim Raeisi won the June 18 presidential election with a landslide victory, defeating his three other rivals with a wide margin.

Raeisi, Mohsen Rezaei, Abdolnasser Hemmati, and Amir Hossein Qazizadeh Hashemi were competing in the Friday elections.

Some 90 percent of the total 28,600,000 ballots have been counted so far and Raeisi has succeeded to win 17,800,000 votes, the Interior Ministry election headquarters said.

Rezaei, Hemmati, and Qazizadeh have also won 3,300,000 votes, 2,400,000 votes, and 1,000,000 votes, respectively.

The three losers of the presidential race issued separate messages congratulating Raeisi for winning the presidential post.

Senior MP Mostafa Mirsalim, who ran for president in the 2017 elections, said people elected a person for president who is very brave in uprooting corruption.

 

Rezaei, Hemmati, and Amir Hossein Qazizadeh Hashemi were competing with Raeisi in the presidential elections.

Rezaei also congratulated the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for people’s participation in the elections.

Also in part of his congratulatory message , Hemmati on his Instagram page hoped that Raeisi would bring prosperity and better livelihood for the “great Iranian nation”. 

In his message, Qazizadeh also said congratulated Raeisi. “While supporting the votes of the people, I congratulate Hazrat Ayatollah Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi as the people’s” elected president, Qazizadeh stated.

Qazizadeh also wished success for Raeisi for being granted the honor by the electorate to serve the “great Iranian nation”.

He also congratulated the Leader of the Islamic Revolution for people’s “epic” participation in the presidential polls.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Qazizadeh said Ayatollah Khamenei “made the path clear to all through his guiding remarks on the eve of the elections.”

In televised remarks, sitting President Hassan Rouhani also congratulated the president-elect. However, he refused to mention the name of the president-elect.  

However, the Interior Ministry has not yet released any report about the number of votes that each candidate has collected.

Also on Saturday morning, Parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf praised the people’s massive participation in the elections despite complaints about incompetency in managing the country.

In a post on his Twitter account,  Qalibaf said he congratulates the holding of “national election celebrations as well as epic participation” of the people to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the “noble people of Iran”.

Putin congratulates Iran’s president-elect Raeisi

 Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a message on Saturday congratulating the election of Ebrahim Raeisi as the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“Dear Mr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi, the president-elect of the Islamic Republic of Iran, accept my sincere congratulations on the election of Your Excellency as the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Putin said in his message.

In part of his message, Putin also said the relationship between “our countries are traditionally gifted with friendship and good neighborliness.” 

The Russian leader expressed hope that during the tenure of Raeisi as president the relations between the two countries would keep progressing toward mutual constructive cooperation in different areas at bilateral and international levels.

Such an approach will “fully meet the interests of the Russian and Iranian nations” and help strengthen regional security and stability, Putin added.

In the end, Putin expressed success and health for the Iranian president-elect.
