PRO-PALESTINIAN ACTIVISTS TARGET ISRAELI ARMS FACTORY IN UK

Middle East World

Mon 23 August 2021:

Pro-Palestine activists stormed an Israeli arms factory in England for the sixth time this year on Monday, in yet another attempt to persuade the UK government to stop producing weapons that the organization claims are being tested and deployed against Palestinians in the occupied territories.

Some demonstrators have smashed windows and coated the facility in blood-red paint, while others who have managed to get access have smashed glass and decorated the facilities in blood-red paint.

“Activists occupying the Elbit Ferranti factory have once again demonstrated the effectiveness of direct action in the face of Israeli persecution.

Members of the Palestine Action group have invaded the Elbit Systems Ferranti facility in Oldham, Greater Manchester, which manufactures specialist military equipment and technology, including components for Israeli drones and combat tanks, according to a statement.

While Western governments continue to side with the oppressors, and while media attention in Palestinian suffering has dwindled, Palestinians are still exposed to daily brutality, starvation, apartheid and death. These activists are bravely standing against this injustice – and we will continue to do so until Elbit is shut down,” a Palestine Action spokesperson was quoted as saying.

The direct-action group, Founded in August, 2020, first targeted the London headquarters of the real estate firm LaSalle for being Elbit’s landlord in June, has announced that its campaign to shut down the Israeli arms company will continue to escalate and expand in scope, reaching all those “complicit in, and profiting from” Elbit’s arms and technology.
